4 months

I cannot believe it has been four months!

Here are her official doctor stats.

Weight: 16.3 lbs - 94%
Height: 25.2 inches - 83%
Head: 41.5 inches - 66%

Malorie did awesome at the doctor today. The doctor kept getting distracted by Malorie making faces and smiling at her. She charmed everyone there she saw. It seemed like the shots were a little more traumatic for her this time. Her legs were hurting for the rest of the day. She did manage to trick the nurse. (Our favorite nurse went on a mission to Ohio! Sad for us, good for her). The nurse was trying to give her the oral vaccine. She would put in a little and wait for Malorie to swallow. At one point Malorie spit some of it out, so the nurse tried her best to get it back in. Once she had put most of it in, Malorie spit tons out. So much that the nurse couldn't even try to get it all back in. Silly girl acted like it was going in. Hopefully she got enough to still benefit!

Malorie is our social happy baby. As long as she has attention she is happy. She hates being left alone (especially to sleep. We are working on that one.) She is getting better at rolling, although as with anything she does it when she wants to. She gets goofy or angry when tired and loves to grab anything and everything. My favorite thing in the morning is to walk in her room and pick her up. Even if she has been crying, when she sees me she stops and gives me a huge grin. 

She still has her tooth on the top left that is just hanging out waiting to break through. (Although the doctor said this might not be a tooth. Only time will tell I guess!) She is getting closer to sitting up unassisted. She would be closer but she likes to throw herself forward, flip her feet back and land on her stomach. We do not sit her near any edges just in case. I swear she says hi and hey. She will sometimes sing with me and try to match the pitch. (Some attempts are more successful than others). She LOVES polka dots. 

We are loving having this little one as a part of our lives. Here are a few pictures from the last few days.

Faces are so fun

Malorie has recently started to love looking at people's faces up close and touching their face. She especially loves when Jeff or I get up close. She will touch (sometimes more like scratch) and stares. Sometimes she even laughs. Tonight Jeff was getting up close and blowing on her tummy. She got to the point that she would start laughing before he got to her. She also loves it when you poke her just below the ribs. It is so fun to watch her laugh more and more. 

She had her first completely no contest unassisted roll tonight. She went from her back to her front to reach a toy (or more likely get a view of the TV).

We have been tying to work on sleep training, it isn't going perfect but I think she is getting more sleep overall. She is also learning my limits. I let her cry for 15 minutes on Tuesday for her morning nap. Then comforted her and got her to sleep. We tried again in the afternoon and I swear she figured out I would come if she kept going (screaming that is). She even has figured out if she coughs I am more likely to come running. I am learning which to worry about and which to not. We were going to try again today, but I woke up with an infection and had to go to the doctor (ah the joys of nursing). That messed things up a bit. She has been so good while I haven't been feeling well. I think she was quite happy when Jeff came home and actually played with her.

Grandparents Roberts

My parents came to town for malorie's blessing. It was too short of a visit!! My dad came out Tuesday and my mom was supposed to come out Thursday, but she ended up moving her flight to Wednesday due to snow. It is a good thing she did, I doubt she would have made it Thursday as Virginia had tons of snow and tons of flights were cancelled.

We spent time hanging out and exploring. 

 My dad got in late Tuesday, so we mostly chatted then went to bed. 

Wednesday I worked and then we did some shopping. We picked up my mom late that night.

Thursday we all, except Jeff, went to temple square. Dad dropped off a history he had worked on with my grandpa at the family history library. We went to lunch at city creek and walked around temple square. It was fun to hear my dads stories from when he lived in salt lake as a child. That night we went to chuck a Rama, a place my grandma loved.

Friday I worked while my mom watched Malorie. That night we did some shopping for food for the blessing party.

Saturday we went to visit my dad's old mission companion in Saratoga springs. We used to visit the Davis' all the time when I was little. It was so fun to see the girls and all their kids!! When did we all grow up!! After that we dropped off histories with two of my dads cousins. Once we got home we ate dinner and then dad and I ran errands while Mom and Jeff gave Malorie a bath.

Sunday was the blessing day, discussed in a previous post. 

Monday I worked while mom again babysat and dad took Jeff to the airport. He went to CA for a friends wedding. That night mom, dad, Malorie, and I went to deliver more histories. We were supposed to visit my aunt and uncle, but my aunt was sick. We went to a delicious bakery and mom and dad bought Malorie a light up and singing giraffe.

Tuesday I took them to the airport. Malorie decided to fill her died just before we left, but luckily we had planned to go early enogh that they were ok.

It was so fun to visit with my parents and give them a chance to get to know Malorie!!

 March 4-10, 2015

Just a weekend at home

This weekend was a nice relaxing weekend. We ran a few errands then spent time at home cleaning and playing with the baby. I also learned a few parenting lessons. It is a good idea to keep up on your dishes, just in case you get home from shopping and need to give the baby an impromptu bath. I also learned to be grateful for the small stuff, like the fact that the car seat made it through unscathed and the only casualties are easily washable.

Malorie has started to get goofy when tired. It's hilarious. She also enjoys playing with her dad. Jeff will count to three then fly her in the air. She gets super excited when you start counting. He has also taught her to jump on the bed... She loves it. Thankfully she cannot do it alone yet.

We got her a singing/light up giraffe for sleeping. We set it standing up and she will knock it over then push it back up.

Jeff decided malorie's activity mat did not have enough toys...

We also sat outside for a few minutes as a family. Malorie got to wear her new jacket. She wasn't quite sure about the wind though.

Malorie has been to Sacrament meeting a few times, but this her first full Sunday. She had fun staring at a little girl who is just a few weeks older. It was pretty adorable.

It was a bad day for naps. She fell asleep right before church, at the end of Sunday school, and the end of relief society. She also filled her diaper at the beginning of sacrament meeting. Overall a success.

After church I had her on the table and I turned around to find all the napkins from the holder in her hands. I got a picture just after she dropped them. She was trying to eat them. I did not move the holder for the picture.

I did get to make cookies which turned out delicious! I made them for the awesome couple who gave us some pretty adorable hand me downs.

We video chatted with my mom and just relaxed.

It was nice to have some family time after the crazy.

Close ups

We had a rough night and not enough naps today. On the plus side we did get s new dishwasher. (Although the delivery men were not my favorite. Arriving shortly after I got Malorie down for a nap. In her crib no less.)

We will just focus on cute pictures.

Virginia

My sister, Miriam, graduated from the university of Virginia. My mother in law is from Charlottesville (the town where UVA is located). I am from Virginia. We have ties to Virginia.

Today, baby girl and I decided to represent.

We also decided it was a good day to read a book.

Or maybe just eat it. (This is just before it went in the mouth.)

We had a busy day today.

First we video chatted with my parents, then later with my sister, Miriam. (We had to show her Malorie wearing the shirt Miriam bought for her. Next, our landlord came by to uninstall our old dishwasher to prepare for our new one (yay!). Malorie would stare at him, smile, and once he smiled back, burrow in my shoulder for a few seconds, and do it all again. Finally, Jeff's parents stopped by. I tried to get Malorie to show them her new tricks, but she does not perform unless she wants to.

Grabbing and rolling

Malorie has been working hard this week. She is improving her grabbing and holding. She loves to have a toy in each hand. Her goal being to put anything and everything in her mouth. With this She has been learning to hold her binky. Monday night she fully mastered grabbing it and taking it out of her mouth.

Putting her to bed Monday night went something like this.

1. Lay her down in her crib.

2. Insert binky.

3. Malorie grabs binky.

4. Malorie pulls binky out of mouth. 

5. Malorie extends arm and drops binky.

6. I reinsert binky.

7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 many times.

Go figure the one thing I want her to put in her mouth, she would rather take out.

Some of the pictures are repeats, but they illustrate my point.

Yesterday Malorie rolled over from back to stomach for the first time. My mom and Jeff were teaching her last week to bring up her legs. Yesterday she brought up her legs, I gave her a little nudge (so it wasn't totally unassisted), and she rolled over! I tried to get it on video, but this kid does not perform for the camera. This picture is right before her first roll. 

She has also started to grab her feet. She loves to do this during diaper changes. Funny thing is she only likes grabbing her left foot with her left hand. She likes sucking on her foot, but cannot do that without her dad's assistance.

Hanging at grandmas

This weekend we were in orem to visit with Jeff's sister, Jenny, and her daughter, Samantha. Jeff and I were also able to go to my good friends sealing as well!

When we got back from the sealing Malorie was sleeping on grandma. Sam did not want to be left out.

I dressed Malorie in an outfit from my sister so I took a picture.

It has been a bit tiring for Malorie. She is still trying to figure out having another little person around who is much more independently mobile. This is her zonked out with her new giraffe on the way back from dinner Saturday.

We don't usually give Malorie a bottle when I am around, but we did on Sunday. Malorie decided she wanted to hold the bottle by herself. (It didn't last long, but she did it!)
