Happy Father's Day 2016

We started out the weekend in Orem, so that Jeff could go to the Temple with his dad and grandpa. We then spent the day hanging out with family and going to dinner. 

Sunday, I let Jeff sleep in and I bathed Malorie and fed her breakfast. I made Jeff orange rolls... And in doing all this I didn't get ready and we were late for church. Whoops. 

After church, Malorie went straight to sleep and Jeff followed not too much later! I started making dinner, but kept getting distracted. I turned on the oven, and several minutes after it preheated I realized I forgot to set the timer. Ten minutes later, I realized I didn't actually put the chicken in the oven. Whoops. 

I eventually got dinner done and had built in extra time (knowing myself) and we didn't eat too late. 

Marianne and her roommate came over for dinner and we enjoyed spending time. 

We ended the night with some baby cuddles.

Folding Arms

We have been working with Malorie to sit still through prayers, and to fold her arms. Tonight, she was actually doing a pretty good job. (I call sitting still through the whole prayer a win. She is not one to let grass grow under her feet!)

She started the prayer folding her arms, with a book next to her. Every once in awhile she would lift one arm to change a page in the book. Then it was almost as if she remembered what she was supposed to be doing and would put her arm back. She did this several times throughout the prayer. At the end she went for longer looking at the book. As soon as I said "amen" she looked up and put her arm back.

I stuck!

I am not sure what is happening. All of a sudden people keep telling me how Malorie is looking more and more like a toddler! She has also decided since our trip to Carson City, NV Memorial Day weekend that she wants to talk more. 

For awhile she was picking up words very slowly. She obviously understood more and more of what we were saying, but felt no need to contribute. That has majorly changed lately! She is talking up a storm. She will look at you and make very deliberate sounds. Then give you a look when you don't quite understand. (This kid has such an expressive face, it is awesome. If you are confused she will tilt her head and look at you like "why can't you understand. It is not that hard".

She also likes to throw in a word or two at random times. Today, she sat on a chair, and Jeff sat "on" her. Her response "I stuck!"  

She also says "Mer Mer" (for her aunt Miriam). Yesterday we are pretty sure she said "Auntie M" (aunt Marianne). She says duck, quack, up, please (on occasion), what's that, shoes, socks, car car, mama, dad, grandpa and many more that I can't think of now. Of course!

This kid is also STRONG. Those arms look chubby, nope. That is muscle! She pulled herself onto a booster seat just by pulling up on the arm rests. No feet involved. She loves to climb up ladders and all sorts of stuff. Jeff stopped her from moving a chair, so she just moved the table! She even lifted a 5lb bag of sugar above her head.

Please note she is holding a bear, a doll, a book, and a water bottle. And this is what she settled for, she would have liked to bring more downstairs. 

Nutella Addict

We apparently have a Nutella addict on our hands. A few weeks ago Jeff went to look for the Nutella. It was nowhere in sight. (He is generally the only one to use it. So this was rather strange). 

That evening he and Malorie decided to have a snack. As he was looking around Malorie walked right over to the cabinet, pulled out the Nutella, handed it to Jeff, and signed please. Apparently she didn't want daddy to endulge without her. 

Today I was making her a PB sandwich. She walked right over to the pantry (she can open doors now), opened the door and pulled out the Nutella. She then devoured her Nutella sandwich.
