Gardner Village

We went to Gardner Village today. We didn't do much, but we did get some fun pictures. One day we will have to go back and tell her about how this tourist trap is actually a village built by her ancestors.

Weekends

Weekends are a bit different these days.

Ponytail and pigtails

Last week I tried doing Malorie's hair. Our first attempt was a ponytail. It is hard to get a 9 1/2 month old to sit still long enough to do her hair.

She was excited when daddy gave her a spatula.

Next, we attempted pigtails.

On Tuesday we went to the library. This time Iput her in the sink. It worked a little better. She also discovered Dad's little scripture set.

I can't believe how old it makes her look! 

Dancing

Yesterday was a long day for Malorie and me. I wanted her to nap, she didn't want to. Then, while fighting a tired baby, I had to fight with the mortgage company who bought our mortgage from Zions. (Yes, I would like to make sure I get my full escrow balance. Thank you very much).

After dinner we try to spend time with Malorie together. Last night, we started listening to music. I got Jeff to put on "Journey to the Past." I started dancing with Malorie and then Jeff joined us. Malorie thought it was hilarious and so much fun. She couldn't stop laughing.

It was a bright spot at the end of my crummy day. :)

It's the little things...

I have been stressed and struggling with work, health, baby, and other issues. I have been super frustrated that I don't have the time or energy to unpack and decorate our house like I want. Knowing this Jeff took some time this week to unpack some of the boxes in the office so it is not just a pile or boxes. It still needs a lot of work, but there is at least some progress!

This also motivated me to do some other little projects. 

This one is very much still a work in progress, but it still makes me happy. 

Our porch is boring and lame, so I decided to spice it up a little this week.

There is still a lot more to do and not nearly enough time in a week to do it, but I am trying to focus on the small wins today.

Cousins 4th of July

We had all of Jeff's immediate family in town for the Fourth of July (except Traci who is still on her mission). Most were in town for the reunion and stayed for the week. It made for a fun week! Malorie got to spend a lot of time with all her Fletcher cousins. It was so fun to see her older cousins watching out for her. Lily was great at making her smile and laugh. Rory loved to hold her hand and would catch when Malorie had stuff not meant for babies. 

Jeff had the rare opportunity to go to lunch with just his siblings, minus Traci and plus all the kids. It was also fun to show off our new house to his siblings. Although with the reunion and everyone in town it didn't leave much time for packing.

Malorie got to go the zoo for the first time and the aquarium for the third time.

First Sick Day

Malorie had a first tonight that I was hoping to put off for a bit longer. 

Malorie has been fairly fussy today. Getting her down for her afternoon nap was more painful than normal. She even refused the binky. She may refuse for a couple seconds, but she usually gives in. Prior to this she tried zucchini for the first time. She didn't eat a lot but I thought she was just tired or teething.

Tonight we put her to bed thinking all was well. Then we heard coughing from the monitor. Jeff went in to check on her and she had thrown up. He called me in. I took the baby he took the bedding. TMI alert [it was all over. Even on the wall next to the crib.] While we were in the midst of cleaning up, she went for round two. Poor thing had nothing left in her stomach after that. 

My awesome sister in law is a NP who is always willing to answer my new mom medical questions helped guide us through what to do and evaluate whether we needed to go in to the doctor. I am very grateful to have a medical professional willing to answer my questions at all hours and not judge me ( too much :). (I am very grateful to the other friends and family that answer questions for me as well! I ask a lot!)

Malorie was a champ through the whole process. She hardly cried. Although she didn't like the taste in her mouth and had a few more episodes that came up with nothing but discomfort. 

I am now sitting up with her while she sleeps. I probably am fine to lay her down, but for now I am trying to soak in some baby snuggles. Malorie has too many things to do and places to explore to cuddle with her mama these days. 

Here is hoping that this will pass. We will have to see if this is a reaction to the zucchini or just a mean virus.
